Clutter

As a Feng Shui Master Consultant, I believe that the most important element of a home’s Feng Shui is clutter. Clutter causes stagnant energy and affects you physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually! To simply remove and deal with your clutter will transform your life by releasing negative emotions, generating energy and creating space for magnificent things to come in for Spring 2007!

Feng Shui is the art of balancing the flow of energy in our surroundings to create beneficial effects in our lives. Just as we balance the energy of our body thru diet, exercise, yoga, or message, balancing the energy that circulates around us is equally as important. Incorporating good Feng Shui is an essential part of living in balance.

Clutter- any kind of clutter creates an obstacle to the flow of energy around a space. This in turn creates a stagnant feeling and/or confusion in the lives of the occupants.

It always starts with a little bit then it slowly grows and grows and so does the stagnant energy around it, which has a corresponding stagnating effect on your life.

When you’re surrounded by clutter, it is impossible to have clarity about what you’re doing in your life and it is believed to even cause anxiety and depression.

Clutter is attached to what is going on inside of you. What fears are holding you back from moving forward and keeping you from being the person you were meant to be?

Clutter is defined as things you do not love, things that are untidy or disorganized, too many things in a designated space, anything unfinished and anything not of use.

When you get rid of clutter, you will literally feel lighter in body, mind and spirit. The stagnant energy from clutter can cause tiredness and lethargy. Clutter can also keep you in the past and there is no room for anything new to come into your life. You have to release the past for a better tomorrow and to attract all the wonderful things you want in your life.

Top Five Tips for Spring!

Number one: Sort the clutter: Analyze and identify what is important to you and group similar items. With each item ask yourself why you are holding on to this.

If it does not serve a purpose in your life-release it.

Number two: Purge it: decide what you can get rid of (e.g. garage sale, donate, garbage) Use big trash bags and big donation boxes, as you fill them, move them out of the area and designate a space in the garage for all of this to start going out.

Number three: Designate: Decide where certain items will go and make it official.

Number four: Bins: Use bins to organize. Make sure they are good quality; label them if you can not see through them. Baskets are also good.

Number Five: Maintain: Spend time each day to maintain what you have done.

OTHER SPRING CLUTTER TIPS

Things you really love will carry high vibration energy and will be uplifting. Any indoor or outdoor trees and other live plants lift the energy of your home and represents growth.

If you don’t absolutely love it, get rid of it! Don’t keep things out of guilt because a certain person gave you this item. Anything like unwanted gifts that you keep or things that need fixing will drain your positive energy rather then energize you.

Clothes-If you haven’t worn it in the last 12 months, say goodbye.

Anything unfinished in any realm of your space clutters your psyche. Fixing a broken drawer, leaking faucet, phone calls that are needed to make, and other loose ends will hinder you if you do not complete them.

Have a major clear out of your cupboards and refrigerator. Check expiration dates on medicines and any bottles, old condiments, and throw away anything outdated. If it’s in question, throw it out and make a fresh start!

Bedrooms- clutter in the bedroom is a no-no. This should be a place of clutter-free living so you can rest better and have a personal and romantic retreat for yourself so don’t place exercise equipment, computers and other non-bedroom materials in this area. See what is under the bed and over the bed and clear this space out too.

Keeping things “just in case” represents a lack of trust in the future.

Desks- a clear desk will always equal clear thinking and a clear mind. Keep only essentials like phone, computer, in-box up on the desk All else in the drawers nicely and organized.

Begin small; begin wherever you feel drawn to clear first. After you’ve started clearing you will feel the effects right away.

Affirm to yourself as you clear your clutter, “it’s safe to let go”. Sounds silly but clearing clutter is about letting go and trusting the process of life. Clutter holds us accountable for unresolved emotions like being hurt, resentment, and other masks of fear.

Mind Clutter for Spring

Mind Clutter-This too will effect your life. Right now, stop criticizing and judging yourself and others. Stop worrying. Worrying is a form of fear and will only prevent or slow down the solution or miracle that is coming. One lesson is that what you see in others and negative speaking is actually a mirror and qualities of yourself.  Holding mottos like “kill them with kindness”, “sprinkle them in fairy dust” and “wish them blessings” are very important. This is a kind practice which reaps marvelous rewards for yourself. Stop gossiping- Make it a point to speak of others as if they were sitting right in front of you.

Speaking the truth in your words and learning how to not take anything personally are two major positive energy influences of your mind.
